we wanted to have a little party for evan before we left ida grove. he made some good friends in the eight months we were there. as you will see, he loves his friends. the great thing is...we love his friends' parents too!
we had the party in grandma and grandpa's "newly" remodeled chicken coop. what a great party room!
the theme:
david vs. goliath.
the sand table is always a hit with the kids. they just love the soft sand and all the toys. it's magic. they hardly ever argue or whine while playing--no matter how many kids are playing in it!

the kids also played at the "park" and jumped on the trampoline.

after supper and playtime, i read the kids a david and goliath book.
yes, i know, i'm a teacher.

then goliath appeared saying "who will fight me?!?!?" (thanks to philip for humoring the idea and playing along so well)
evan didn't miss a beat. he replied with, "i will fight you with the help of God!"
the kids then threw water balloons at goliath.

when the water balloons ran out, goliath collapsed. (just like the story, right?)
i think everyone was okay with throwing water balloons at goliath...but we got a few looks when evan picked up goliath's sword and cut off his head! : )

then it was time for great granny's award winning chocolate cake!!!
thanks great granny for making two cakes for the special occasion!

i'll huff and i'll puff....

jensen, family of four.

the birthday boy and his best bud, nathan.

thanks grandma and grandpa johnson for letting us have the party at your place.
you made it easy to pull off a party hosting 37 people!!!
happy birthday evan.
we love you!
