newhouse christmas, 2009
dubuque, iowa

denny johnson family (missing a few very important girls!)

growing up my mom's side of the family ALWAYS had pinatas for the kids.
my grandparents wintered in texas and would bring one back.
now, my aunt and uncle winter down south and brought a pinata back for the 3rd generation to enjoy!
cousin haley taking a swing at it!

my mom and i made these "super hero" capes for all of my cousins' kids. they loved them.
evan is just getting into super heros. we think he was acting in character all day!

super evan was not afraid to sit on santa's lap.

super anabel was a little apprehensive!

the hotel we stayed at had a water park and the kids LOVED it!

the big waterslides were a hit...

even for the youngest!

The superhero capes are great! (Don't worry, I won't show this post to Owen and spoil the surprise) Super Anabel's pigtails are super cute :)

That is the worst Santa beard I have ever seen! No wonder Anabel was scared! ;)

Awesome capes!!! I think you should write up a tutorial for all of us so we can make them!!! (and be wowed by your talent!) ;)

i think the capes i made for christmas are even cooler!!! here's the website i got the tutorial from..

http://pukingpastilles.com/?p=57

i did a superman emblem on one side and their initial with a lighting bolt (princess crown for the girls) on the black side. a one-sided cape is A LOT easier...but i really like the reversible ones! the second batch of capes i made a little longer than what this pattern calls for.

annie, if you think this year's santa beard was awful, check out last years (you may have to scroll down a bit). this year was actually an upgrade!!! : )
