The North 40 Campground.
My grandpa owns some land about 2 miles from our house. There is a stream and a large buffer strip before the bean field. Phillip had a vision to put my parents' (actually Gpa & Gma Newhouse's) camper down there for the summer. He has amazing ideas. It has been a ton of fun!!! He made an area to set up a tent for the kids to play in, a shady spot under a tree for our table, a couple paths to the stream and a great fire pit. Here's the back of the camper:
Inside there is a bed (ours) beyond the kids' loft, the kids' loft and underneath could also be a bed...but we put Brooks' pack and play there! The loft and pack-n-play break down and a table can be set up.
It is a cozy little get-a-way....all set up for us!
The best part is we are right in the middle of the outdoors.
Here is the kids' playground:
Pets are provided!
Story time by the fire:

Lots of snuggle time!

She just LOVES the St. Louis heat...take note, we are in jackets, long pants and boots!!!)

I realize this is a little red-neck for some of you! I like to think of it as adventuresome and outdoors-y! I will be honest and tell you that our first night was NOT a success. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening. We put Brooks to bed first. He went down without a fuss. A half hour later we put the older two to bed. They were SO excited. They woke up Brooks and from then on it went down hill. After over two hours of Brooks crying, Anabel also decided to join in. She got so upset that she was dry heaving. So at 1:30, we loaded up the kids in the Suburban and headed the two miles home. Evan kept saying, "I could have fallen asleep if there wasn't any crying." Me too, buddy. Phillip and I kept thinking (& hoping) that Brooks would give up and fall asleep. Not so much.
In Brooks' defense he has been teething his back molars. He hasn't slept great~even at home. I don't know why I thought he would in the camper!
I am so thankful we were not at a regular campground!
Memories were made.
Stay tuned for our next camping adventure!

Sweet! Nothing better than camping! Oh how I long to camp where jackets are required...I guess we'll be making a trip to the Jensen Family Campground. I'm sure the kiddos will get the hang of it (especially when those teeth come in).
This is awesome...I just love you guys and your adventures! What a great way to 'get away' w/out having to go far. Are you taking reservations at the camp ground?
These are some great pictures of the kids...Anabel and her hot chocolate is my favorite...one cute little eye peaking out!
you guys are hands-down the coolest family i know. I wish we were closer so we could crash your camping party and join you!!
