Our 7th grader (& 6th grade skipper!) in front of the new secondary building.  The football field is wet and muddy due to monsoon season and the recent construction at the school.

Update on Evan.  This kid is brave.  We sat through the 6th grade orientation and heard all about the awesome trekking trip the grade goes on in October.  We heard about how Secondary works and the expectations compared to Primary.  Evan was able to size up his class and decided he would fit in.  He was looking forward to 6th grade...then we met with Mr. Hamer.  Mr. Hamer informed us that 6th Grade was over capacity at 23 students and there was not room for Evan.  Evan would be advanced into 7th grade.  The school had already gone to the board and asked for permission for 23.  The 7th grade class only had 12 students.  Mr. Hamer was not going to budge.  We were all a little crushed at this news.  How could they just advance him without knowing him?  How will we know what skills he has missed?  Is he academically and socially ready for this jump?
Mr. Hamer asked Evan all sorts of questions.  Evan looked him in the eye and answered everyone of them.  Phillip and I sat there amazed at how grown up our boy was.  I wanted to cry, I wanted answers as to how this was overlooked until the day before school started.  All the while, Evan was listing off his interests, favorite subjects, telling his knowledge of Nepal and what surprised him (He was surprised by how many trees there were.  He did not think there would be as many as there were.)  Mr. Hamer said Evan was to take the CAT test later in the week to make sure he would fit in 7th grade.  We left Mr. Hamer in disbelief.

[I want to say somewhere along the line, someone entered in Evan's information incorrectly.  Phillip went back and checked to make sure we didn't put the wrong grade down--our information was correct.  Not only was his grade wrong in the school system but they also had his first name listed as Philip...what a crazy start.  But honestly, I know God knew all along Evan would face this challenge.  God has prepared Evan for this year and we are so proud of the way he has responded.]

Our 5th grader and sweetheart with her teacher Mrs. Watt.  Anabel will also grow and be stretched in many ways this year.  She is determined student with a big heart.

Brooks with his 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Neiger.  Brooks is ready to learn and ready to play some football!  All of the kids will be in school with other students from around the world!  What an amazing opportunity.
