today our little girl is one year old.
we have been so blessed by her.
her smile and sing-song voice brightens our day.
anabel is full of energy and is always trying to keep up with her big brother.
but...
anabel got sick this past weekend. she couldn't keep any food down. we ended up in the hospital on monday so she could get some fluids through an i.v. she was very weak and lethargic after not eating for three days. at home, we were giving her 2 teaspoons of pedialyte every five minutes to keep her hydrated...but it wasn't enough. we were so thankful to get her hydrated so her body could fight off her stomach bug. we brought her home on tuesday night. it was amazing to see the changes 32 hours can make. she's still not 100%...but she's well on her way!!! we are so thankful to have her home and to see her smile again!!!!
it's so hard to take pictures of sick babies.
here she is resting in daddy's arms. so sad.
that's better, FINALLY sitting up after four days of laying around with no energy or ambition.
once she perked up we didn't have any toys. the balloons and teddy bear were a hit!!! thanks aunt diane & boys and great grandma & great grandpa johnson.
look mom, real food!!!
we were so thankful for our doctor who encouraged us to introduce solids back into her system before sending us home. it made us feel more confident knowing she could keep it down!
the kids were happy to be back together!!!
happy birthday anabel faith!
we love you. we couldn't imagine life without you!

Yay! Happy Birthday, Anabel! And praise God for your recovery. We will continue to pray for you guys and we miss you lots!
happy birthday anabel. so glad you are feeling better. hope you make a full recovery soon and start climbing the furniture again!
Sorry to hear of your hospital experience, but thankful she is doing so much better. The photo of Anabel in the crib with the IV reminded me of when Alisa (11mo?) was in the hospital when we were at Jensens in Minnetonka (1988). She had a seizure and a ride in the ambulance. Doctor said she'd order a spinal tap in the morning, if she wasn't better...but didn't think she looked like she had menegitis...yikes! Double ear infection and Roseola, we figured out later. Scary when little ones are sick. Chow down, Anabel!
How scary! I'm so so glad she is okay! Yes, Happy Birthday Anabel. That reminds me that 1 year ago Phillip was really sick! I'm glad everyone is home together now!
Hi Missy,
sorry to hear about Anabel's terrible stomach bug. We went through the same thing a couple years back with Maia and it truly is amazing how some IV fluids can make such a difference! Happy Birthday to Anabel too. We miss you guys around here!
