Tuesday, January 10: Evan had dental surgery. He had his old baby root canal extracted, a new root canal done on a different tooth, two caps put on and a few other small cavities filled. Thankfully he went under anesthesia and doesn't remember it.
I only feed my children sugar.
Saturday, January 14: While Phillip and I were attending a conference in Ames, Brooks put his left hand on a HOT wood-burning stove at grandma's house. We took him to the E.R. He was in so much pain they had to give him a shot of morphine to settle him down. He has 2nd degree burns on his palm and fingertips.
He is one tough kid.
Tuesday, January 17: Brooks and I went to Iowa City and back (4.5+hours ONE way) for a follow-up appointment at the burn unit. We will have to dress his blisters once a day for a couple weeks. We have to watch closely for infection but he should heal fine.
Wednesday, January 18: My sweet, sweet grandma took her last breath on earth and went to be with her heavenly father.
Thursday, January 19: Family arrived for the funeral.
Friday, January 20: Grandma Johnson's visitation in Ida Grove from 5-7p.m. Phillip lead the prayer service following the visitation. Anabel decided to make things interesting and threw up with 5 minutes left and continued all through the night.
Saturday, January 21: Grandma's funeral at 10:30 in Kiron, Iowa. My amazing friend, Naomi volunteered to sit with Anabel at our house during the funeral. Hopefully I will have separate posts on the visitation and funeral. It was such a special time. Litttle Anabel went 30+ hours without being able to even keep a sip of water down. We ended the day with taking her to the E.R. at 10:00 p.m. They gave her some medicine to settle her stomach down and sent us home.
Monday, January 23: Another appointment for Brooks' hand. It is healing more each day.
These are only the highlights. Life is never boring.
