The kids did great. We had plenty of snacks and activities (including electronic devices) to keep them busy. During the first landing their ears started to hurt...but we made it through. My Aunt Nancy picked us up in Brownsville and we spent the night in the trailer my aunts and mom own at Four Seasons Resort. Thursday morning the kids went swimming with grandma and grandpa. Then Phillip & I went to Walmart to buy groceries for the island. My brother Matt and his family arrived mid morning. They made incredible time driving through the night (18+ hours) with three kids!!!! My dad rode with them to South Padre, checked into our beach house and then drove their van back to pick us up. It worked out SO smoothly!

We knew our beach house would be fun...but we had no idea how AMAZING it would be. It was HUGE. The layout was perfect for our families. Matt & Becky's family had the upstairs suite. Mom, Dad & Mandy were on the main floor, and our family had the basement. Three bathrooms, laundry, four bedrooms plus huge closets big enough for air mattresses and pack-n-plays for kids! The main floor had two living rooms, a huge kitchen and dining room. Our house was right next door to the Goldsmith's (Karen's family) and a block away from the beach. Both houses had pools/hot tubs in the back yard...but theirs was heated and our wasn't...so we always swam in their pool.
Thursday the kids went to the beach and swam in the pool. I got our things settled. Then Phillip and I made supper for both extended families~lasagna, green bean, & bread. It was nice to all eat together and have time with Karen's family.

The beach was cold and the water was chilly....but that didn't stop these mid-western kids!!!! (Yes, that is Phillip further out jumping into the waves!)

It was nice to walk a block back from the beach and hop in the heated pool!

Yes, we were spoiled!
