CSA WK 1
1st official pick-up @ the farm
This is the "CSA Barn."
It has had many names and a multitude of purposes but now we call it the "CSA Barn."  We just got new windows in.  They are really nice to have.  Oh, and there are some comfy mini-van seat out front if you want to view the garden!

We have put quiet a bit of work into this barn.  On the front cement there used to be LOTS of posts and hog panels for pens.  All the fences were taken off, posts were tore out and the holes were filled.  We have also hauled loads out, swept the hayloft, scooped smelly dirt : ) and power-washed the whole building.  The south side of the building is used for kids' bikes and some garden tools.
The north side is for rinsing vegetables and setting out produce.
We bought a new fridge on Tuesday so we could put our old one in the CSA barn.  Here are the veggies waiting for pick-up.  We also had produce in our fridge in the house and my mom's!
Greens draining after being rinsed.

1st official pick-up list....

week 1 share:
Members chatting with their farmer (aka Phillip)...
We were up early Thursday morning harvesting and getting ready!  It was fun to have all of our CSA members come out to the farm.  We are so thankful for their willingness to go on this adventure with us!

Missy,
This is just so cool! What an amazing adventure you are on and how fun for your kids to grow up in this environment (of course I'm a little biased having grown up on a small farm myself). Maia consistently says she wants to be a farmer when she grows up and I told her about your CSA and she just thought it was so neat. Wished we lived closer as I'm sure she would love to help you all out and we would love to be part of your CSA!
