Departed Chicago 2:09 pm
Approx. 4 pm arrival in Doha

We survived the long flight!  Everyone slept some.  : )  The kids loved the unlimited movies on the flight.  The food was okay.  The kids actually ate something during each meal.
Over all, it was a success!

Doha layover...
After the 13+ hour flight, we arrived in Doha, Qatar.  We knew we had a long layover in Doha so the airline put us up in a hotel.  In order to get to the hotel, we had to leave the airport and enter the city.  This required us to wait in line to have our visas stamped.  It was close to a two hour wait.  Waiting in a line for two hours after flying for 13+ was a challenge...but we did it!
Night time ride in a taxi to our hotel.  The hotel was crazy fancy (& all paid for).
We even had a meal voucher from the airline.  We ate at the hotel restaurant.  It was an interesting mix of foods.  The kids are surprising me with their ability to try new things and find something that they will eat!
We had two separate rooms.  The key also turned on the lights.  We only locked ourselves out once.   Phillip and Evan slept in one room and Brooks, Anabel & I slept in the other.  It felt so good to lay flat and put our feet up.  We had to be up at 5:00 am to catch a taxi back to the airport.  Even though the night was short, we were thankful for the great accommodations.
We were a little late for our taxi (probably because I took this picture) but thankfully they waited for us.
Morning drive back to the Doha airport.
It would be fun to spend a few days in Doha!

Back at the airport...
We thought we would have more time to explore the airport but we barely had time to grab something for breakfast and find our gate.

The famous "Lamp Bear"
Lamp Bear by Swiss artist Urs Fischer takes centre stage in the grand foyer leading to HIA's world-class duty-free hall. It is a 23-foot canary yellow teddy bear sculpted from bronze, that sits peacefully inside a lamp. It's a playful piece that humanises the space around it and reminds travellers of childhood or precious objects from home.
Last leg...here we go!!!
