I ventured out to go sledding with both kids. We met up with Phillip and the youth group. Being new to the area I didn't realize this well known sledding hill was going to take a 10 minute snowmobile ride to get out to (and an even longer hay rack ride back to the farm where we parked our cars)!!!! At 27 weeks pregnant I did not take the wild ride down the hill. The ride out and back was enough! This hill was CRAZY (crazy for Iowa, anyway). What you can't see from the pictures is that about 10 feet in front of the sledders there is a complete drop off. The sledders would just disappear and then reappear a few minutes later down in the corn field!

About ready to embark on "the drop off."
The kids loved hooking up all their sleds & tubes and making a great big blob!

looks like tons of fun! and tons of snow :-) how about some prego pics?! miss you guys.
Fun! Glad your drop off wasn't for real. Many years ago when we were also sledding with the youth group, Gus flew off a sledding hill and landed on a creek bed below. He walked back up and sat down near me. "Now, what are we doing out here?" was his first question. "Now, where are we?" his next. That was the deciding factor to call it quits for the day...that and word of an approaching blizzard. Had white-out conditions, which would have made it impossible to get him to a hospital, so I was thankful he woke up every time I nudged him awake. Scary! Lesson learned? Always, always walk the hill... unless someone knows for sure what lies below!
The only snow hills here are the ones made by the guys pushing snow out of the yards.
