Summertime is for...

FRIENDS!

My friend Nicole and her handsome little guy Keller visited our farm. It was so great to meet Keller. He wasn't too sure about me at first....

but he warmed up!

Summertime is for...
ROAD RACES!!!
Yup, that's my oldest running his first 1K.
There was no pressure from me~he wanted to do it!
It was a busy, dreary day so I stayed home with Anabel and Brooks and Phillip took Evan to race. We talked a little about pacing yourself (it is almost 3/4 of a mile!). Evan wasn't sure if he wanted Phillip to run with him or not. He said he would see if other kids had their parents running with them!!! Turns out, Evan was one of the youngest runners. The other couple of young runners did have their parents run with them. So Phillip started out with Evan (travel mug w/ coffee, keys & camera in hand...you know, just incase Evan didn't want him to run...he must have his coffee!!!) EVAN RAN THE WHOLE 1K!!! We were surprised and super impressed that he didn't need to walk. Evan is more proud of the fact that he didn't need to stop for a drink!!! : ) So here is your picture, taken by a faithful and loyal dad trotting along with his son...just to please his wife! Go, Evan, Go!

The race was for the Ida Grove Heritage Days...
along with a PARADE!
My kids had been to two small town Iowa parades in two weeks. WAY TOO MUCH CANDY! The parade was great. The older two got a little tired of picking up the candy! Brooks is super excited because he has just been let out of his stroller! He picked up the candy and put it in the bag like a champ!

Oh, number 3 with sucker in hand and candy in mouth!!!

SOFTBALL
Okay, so I have only played once this year (and I was very sore for the next couple days!) But summer is for softball! My mom was kind enough to bring the kids to watch me play and take a picture while I was batting~how fun (or funny)!
